If you are looking for the Vintage Apple iBook G3 CLAMSHELL 45W Charger M7332 this is not the blog post you are looking for. Try eBay https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Apple+M7332
First thought is wow this looks like an AirTag in an amazon keychain holder in many ways, probably not scale.
Look at how they are put together! It sits flat as a circle on the ground. Like wow, our USB chargers are not made like this. And then on top, you can see the wire through the transparency on the wall plug. Just amazing, who was doing this back then at Apple and why did they stop.

In another thread, a senior member very familiar with older Macs posted that many of these “died young” due to failed corroded connections, so caveat emptor.

So why am I talking about this? Some days I consider the day the Apple Vision Pro will be like this. I hope not, but … what happens when the newer thing is made available and we all move on .. it sits in hopefully original box wrapped or in a Vision Pro bag that can undergo years of season changes protected from the dust and animals … and then one day in 2042 someone finds it, maybe you, maybe someone else, and turns it on. Hopefully the passcode was turned off and they can just put it on and wonder what it is and maybe … someone opens the Visit NYC app? And then tries to play a video that was downloaded to their disk? Will it play?
Assuming the circuitry lasts that long and USB-C chargers will still be available, will the device still work? My Mac Pro from 2013 is still chugging along, albeit consuming so much power for the lack of work it’s doing.
And then what will the apps be like? If you download things today maybe it’ll be preserved, but would things still play? Would there be a checks made to a server thats been turned off for a decade that won’t let play continue? Are the apps really made to be offline.
These are new considerations for making apps for Apple Vision Pro … if we plan with a bit of pessimism (not enough to deter you and stop growth) but accepting of the reality that Apple may lose interest or budget or Tim Cook retires and whoever takes the helm decides that it’s nice Tim Cook wants Apple Vision and makes sure it gets nice fabric updates and beefier CPUs and brings the price down a bit for five years before its obvious to everyone cancelling it is the best course of action because of mis-management, I mean this might not happen and it could be driven into a future where Apple Vision sales exceed iPhone sales whatever it may be the reality of the device and OS and software we have today doesn’t go away.
So hopefully this Mac on our face still has some semblance of existence in the future, and I think the nicest thing to consider is how to make software and experiences that will still work in 2042.
